Tamworth men on drug charges

TWO Tamworth men charged over drug supply offences in Cessnock last Friday have been refused bail after an appearance at Maitland Local Court.

The men, aged 23 and 24, are accused of being part of a drug supply chain from the Central Coast to Tamworth and were arrested at a Cessnock fast food outlet’s car park.

The 24-year-old was allegedly found to be carrying an amount of methylamphetamines and cash.

Police allege the men travelled from Tamworth to Cessnock to buy drugs.

Another man was released without charge.

The 24-year-old’s Daruka home was later searched by police, who allegedly found more methylamphetamines and a shortened rifle.

Investigators also searched the Gorokan home of a 46-year-old man, where more drugs and cash were found.

Police allege the Gorokan man is a senior member of the Commancheros bikie gang.

All three men were refused bail in Maitland Local Court on Saturday and will face court again at a later date.
