THIS will be Nicole Whiting’s first Tamworth Country Music Festival and she’s starting off in a big way.
Twenty-four-year-old Nicole, sponsored by The Northern Daily Leader, is new to the city and said entering the Queen of Country Music Quest was a way of getting more involved with the community and its biggest event.
She has worked at The Leader for three months as the The Domain advertising manager and said it had been easy to settle into Tamworth after moving from Sydney.
“The lifestyle is very laid back and there is always something happening around the region to keep the community involved,” Nicole said.
Since leaving school she has lived in several different places, saying each of those moves took her “out of her comfort zone”, assisting her both personally and professionally.
Outside of her career, horses are how she likes to spend her spare time, heading into the show ring over the years and just recently trying team penning.
She’s a volunteer with the Rural Fire Service, another way to challenge herself, and to relax she likes to catch some live music at the local pubs.
Nicole now sees herself staying in Tamworth, with some overseas travel thrown in, and a lot more festivals to come.
“Country music is the one thing all the people attracted to the festival have in common and I think it is great that Tamworth is the place where it all comes together,” she said.
