While John said he was definitely retired Leon wasn’t so sure. “They made it official,” Leon joked. Also a great jockey in his day, Leon rode all around the world before settling back into training in Inverell. They were feted at Inverell’s Calcutta evening on Cup eve at the track before last Wednesday’s big Cup day. The Cup attention turns to Glen Innes this Saturday when the $14,000 Yasloc Poll Dorset Stud Glen Innes Cup (1400m) is the feature event on a six-race card while the Deepwater Cup follows January 18 before the Country Music Cup at Tamworth on January 19 and the Walcha Cup Prelude at Armidale on January 27.
