Lawrence St resident Garry Collins was awoken by his wife in the early hours of last Tuesday after he saw a glowing light from a thief’s mobile phone in the home.
Mr Collins sprung into the loungeroom and chased the thieves off, but not before they escaped with the retired couple’s car and house keys.
The Collins’ are among an increasing number of victims to be targeted in some of Tamworth’s more affluent suburbs in recent weeks.
“It just makes you so angry. Nobody has the right to break into your home in the middle of the night,” Mr Collins said.
Mr Collins has been forced to change locks in his home and car.
