While he didn’t finish in the placings, he and his TCC teammates finished the year well, club president John Saunders said.
A club BBQ followed a race day as the club wished all and sundry a merry and healthy Christmas and New Year.
Racing was keen and lively, as it always is, with Sam Spokes beating Mitch Carrington and Phil Kelleher in A Grade and Brendon Hallford mowing down Alan Spokes, who was made a life member of the club on Sunday, in the B Grade.
C grade was won by Josh Nash although his uncle, Mal “Chum” Nash, reckoned he did all the hard work up front for Josh to win from Doug Pianta and Sara Spokes.
There were also three D grade riders – Deborah Walganski, Sophie Saunders and Olivia Saunders.
Sophie Saunders hails from Quirindi, said John Saunders, who is no relation.
He welcomed her for her first ride.
“We’ve had a pretty good year,” John Saunders said.
“We had a few new riders turn up who haven’t raced before. Sophie has come up so she can learn to ride for triathlons.”
Club publicity officerMal Nash said the final criteriums of the year were lively.
“It was a good way to finish the year,” he said.
“We had a tailwind down the main straight for a change too.”
He said the club would race again on January 12.
