About 11.30pm on Saturday a stationary speed-enforcement vehicle spotted the P-plater driver tearing along Daruka Rd – a 50km/h zone – at 120km/h.
He was charged with exceed speed more than 45km/h and was slapped with a hefty infringement notice.
Meanwhile, police undertaking Operation Safe Arrival, the annual Christmas/New Year traffic-enforcement blitz, have charged several local motorists with drink-driving.
A public tip-off led Tamworth police to a 47-year-old man driving erratically on the Oxley Highway about 7.30pm on Saturday.
The man was subsequently breathalysed, where he returned a reading of 0.223.
He was charged with high-range PCA and will appear before Tamworth Local Court on January 6.
A 21-year-old man was charged with mid-range PCA about 10.55pm on Saturday.
A 74-year-old Gunnedah driver was charged with low-range PCA on Saturday afternoon.
