This week they passed the century mark, notching up 101 donations each, with the next milestone of 125 in their sights.
Mrs Johnson said they started after their son was in hospital and they realised just how important blood stocks were, and often how hard they were to maintain.
Christmas puts a particular strain on supply and the Tamworth blood service is still short on donors between Christmas and the new year.
Blood Service spokeswoman Jemma Falkenmire said more than 340 blood donations were needed to prevent a shortage of blood products.
Mrs Johnson said it was an easy thing to do and urged anyone considering it to pick up the phone and make an appointment.
“It’s easy, there’s nothing to it,” she said.
“It doesn’t take very long and you get a free health check at the same time.”
