The flame-headed Year 6 student at Tamworth Public School had a busy year, representing North West in two sports – football and touch – and then winning state selection in both.
It took her to Darwin for the Australian School Sports Association Touch Football Championships and to Brisbane for the ASSA Football Championships.
She won a silver medal at both.
Does she have a preference?
“No,” Tyla said with a nervous smile.
“I love them both.”
“She’s torn between them,” her mother, Kylie Endemi, said as Tyla posed for some Leader pix with chief photographer Barry Smith.
Tyla loves scoring tries and loves scoring goals.
It’s a simple equation for playing well.
As well as being blessed with speed, Tyla has skill.
It has earned her success in athletics as well as touch and football (soccer).
It has earned her plenty of trips away.
“Darwin was a great experience,” she said.
In Tamworth, she plays her club football with Tamworth FC and represented a Northern NSW Invitational Under 12 side at the national championships in Coffs Harbour as well.
