Thanks to the Tamworth Home Library Service, people who find it hard to leave the house can still receive library materials delivered to their homes or nursing homes, including books, CDs, DVDs, e-audios and talking books.
From next year, the service will introduce e-books, with 10 e-readers available for clients.
Yesterday, a morning tea was held at the library to thank the service’s volunteers who assist with the selection of materials and their delivery each month.
While the average age of the service’s 89 clients is over the age of 65, carers are also encouraged to access the service because they, too, may find it difficult to leave the home.
To be eligible for the service, a doctor’s certificate is required stating the need.
