Barwon police raided a Toomelah home with Queensland officers in search of Maxwell Jarrett, before they sighted the 31-year-old attempting to flee into nearby scrubland.
A number of officers gave chase through bushland before Jarrett was eventually arrested.
The 31-year-old is facing a number of charges including police pursuit, take and drive conveyance, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and intimidating police.
He was charged on warrants and appeared in the dock of Inverell Local Court where he was refused bail.
He’s been ordered to appear in a Sydney District Court on December 4.
Barwon Commander Acting Superintendent Brett Smith said the arrest should serve as a warning to locals who assist criminals to hide from police.
“Our police are committed to dismantling and eliminating the criminal element within this area,” he said.
“Whenever crooks like this remain at large there is a danger to the community.
“Local police will continue to work with specialist commands as we continue to remove violent offenders from our community.”
