THIS Scully Park push for a motel is very much overpowering by a couple of very moderate planning imbeciles for want of a better description.

Members of this club should be calling for an extraordinary general meeeting to get this one right. I lived on Kent St when this area was scattered with broken-down concrete shacks (detention centre for the army during WWII) and a big crawbob pond where the Scully No.2 halfway line is now. I saw the “park” grow from that. Even our family “put in” during its development.
And don’t forget this – “Big Fella”, Billy Bishoff, was the captain/coach of the first Northern Division side to beat the Poms on that ground in 1966, a big moment in the division’s history.
Both the touring sides of ’62 and ’66 stated that this ground was the best they had played on anywhere outside major stadiums.
This is not just another “park” without history and these gooses must have this rammed down their throats.
I am not against progress and life is full of changes but this draws the line. I cannot believe people like Dennis Gross on the club’s board can let a thing like this get to the table.
Geoff 'Pud' Goodman -Broadbeach
CLARIFICATION: In earlier editions of The Northern Daily Leader and in different formats, a letter appeared mistakenly identifying the author as Pud Goodman of Tamworth. This was incorrect and regrettable and a combination of errors in the editing and sub-editing process. The letter was in fact written by Geoff "Pud" Goodman of Broadbeach in Queensland, a West junior player in 1961 and who still is a member of the West club. The Leader apologises for any confusion or mistaken identity this oversight might have caused.
