ONE minute a truck pulls up at a bowser, the next it erupts into an inferno.
This dramatic photo, captured by Goondiwindi Argus editor Ian Jones, shows the dramatic moments after the
semi-trailer caught fire at Goondiwindi BP last week.
Two diesel bowsers and the truck were destroyed during the blaze, which took fire crews 50 minutes to extinguish.
The fire was so hot the wheel rims of the truck melted.
Goondiwindi firefighter Colin Trehearn said the heat from the blaze was “intense”.
“It was extremely hard to extinguish,” he said.
“We foamed it first but the heat was so intense it didn’t do much; we just had to keep the surrounding area safe.”
A thermal image was taken of the truck’s engine after the fire was extinguished and it registered well above 110 degrees Celsius.
No one was hurt during the fire and police are still investigating the cause.
