TAMWORTH BJP Physical Culture Club played host to 305 junior dancers recently at the annual New England Zone Competition for Physical Culture.
Clubs from across the region made the journey to Tamworth for both team and individual events.
The Granite Belt YMCA Club was welcomed to the New England Zone this year.
Dancers, teachers and their supporters also travelled from Armidale, Coonabarabran, Gunnedah, Moree, Muswellbrook and Upper Hunter for the competition.
Girls competed across the weekend in their corresponding age divisions as well as in team events.
The number of competitors was strong, with some sections having close to 40 participants.
The judges selected five placegetters in each age division and these girls qualify to represent their club at the National Level at Homebush in November.
Tamworth entered seven teams, with the following teams being awarded places: the 5/6 years Giraffes placed fourth, the 7/8 year Puppies team placed fourth and the 9/10 year Fairy Floss team placed first.
The club also experienced much success in the individual sections, with seven girls making it through to the National Finals.
Zoe Hartigan, Charlotte Bird, Davina Cameron, Alexandra Turner, Chloe Sullivan, Amber Shephard and Caitlin Walsh will represent Tamworth at the National Finals in Sydney.
The Tamworth club is proud of all of its members for the way in which they performed their best and for the friendship and sportsmanship they showed their fellow competitors.
