A MAN regarded as an international communication guru will make a flying visit to the region next month to hold a business success seminar.
Allan Parker, author of The Negotiator’s Toolkit and co-author of Switch On Your Brain, will conduct a one-day workshop in Armidale on November 12 titled Communication and Negotiation – Keys to Business Success.
The workshop is designed for all business types, including family-run businesses and firms in both the public and private sectors.
Mr Parker is managing director of Peak Performance Development – a Sydney-based consultancy company operating both in Australia and overseas.
He specialises in helping people deal with change, think differently about situations and negotiate the best outcomes.
According to event manager Nikki Tomansoni, communication remained one of the biggest factors in business success.
“You could be an excellent farmer, accountant, designer, and so on, but if you’re unable to promote your services, products and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, your business potential is limited,” she said.
“Likewise, negotiating is the single most frequently used skill in the
business world at every level and is likely the number one factor in business success.”
Outcomes of the workshop include the ability to think like a negotiator; plan to win before you begin; turn objectives into agreements; promote mutually beneficial results; rapidly build rapport for successful negotiations; and ask quality questions and effectively respond.
Some of the organisations Mr Parker works with include Microsoft, ABN AMRO, Macquarie Bank, Rothschild, St George Bank, Roche Pharmaceuticals, Energy Australia, CSIRO, Sustainable Energy Authority of Victoria and AAMI.
The event will be held at the Armidale City Bowling Club from 9am to 3.30pm on November 12 and spaces are limited.
