Organiser Jule George said she didn’t know how much the fair raised as yet, but was sure they’d surpassed last year’s total of $18,000, with thousands of people through the gate and stalls sold out.
“We were hoping we would have a great day, but we had a fantastic day,” she said.
“We are really happy with the result. It was massive. By 11am, there were people everywhere.”
Mrs George said, apart from fundraising for the school, the day was a way to focus on the St Nicholas community in a fun family day and to show the school off to the people of Tamworth.
Mrs George said the stalls sold out, the barbecue men had never worked so hard and they had to replenish the meat and drink stocks before the day was through.
The money will go towards school improvements with the fair their major annual fundraiser.
“We’ve chosen the fair because it’s a whole family affair and the students do a lot of the stalls themselves and they all had a lot of fun,” Mrs George said.
“It was a really good, positive vibe all day and lots of great prizes were won. The community-building that has come out of last year’s Spring Fair and continued on with this year is better than any dollars. It’s built a great school spirit.”
Mrs George thanked all the sponsors of the fundraiser and said the army of helpers – parents, grandparents and teachers – was amazing.
