PEDESTRIANS meandering along Peel St on Thursday afternoon were greeted with the cheerful sounds of a junior brass brand. The gifted musicians, from Cammeray Public School in Sydney’s northern suburbs, were visiting the region as part of the school’s annual top band tour.
Before performing in the forecourt of Ray Walsh House, the group of 50 played a mixture of numbers to residents at Nazareth House and McCarthy Catholic College.
On Friday they spent time at Gunnedah South Public School where they were delighted to catch a glimpse of a real-life koala, Cammeray Public director of bands Tara Fermor said. Later they performed with the Gunnedah Shire Band at the town band’s hall and on Saturday capped off their travels with a tour of Quirindi.
