AN OXLEY Vale man has been arrested over a violent assault in Newcastle earlier this month.
On October 14, a 34-year-old man was allegedly beaten with a mattock and other weapons before he was stabbed a number of times.
The victim suffered multiple fractures and a number of stab wounds to his legs.
Local police were called out to a separate incident at Kirkham Cr home when police became suspicious of two men.
Checks revealed the 39-year-old Oxley Vale man, as well as a 23-year-old Killarney Vale man, were wanted by Newcastle detectives for questioning.
The two men, who allegedly hide from police, were arrested at the scene.
They are both facing a string of charges including wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, armed with intent to commit indictable offence, assault occasioning actual
bodily harm and aggravated break-and- enter.
Both were bail refused to front Newcastle Local Court.
A 28-year-old Oxley Vale woman has also been arrested, accused of hindering police in relation to the arrest.
She’s been charged with wilfully obstructing police and granted conditional bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court at a later date.
