AN ARMIDALE man has escaped with minor injuries after two men broke into his home and assaulted him.
The aggravated break-and- enter occurred in Trim St, Armidale between 12.30am and 1.30am yesterday.
New England crime manager Detective Inspector Ann Joy said two men forced their way inside and assaulted the occupant before fleeing.
“They were alleged to be in possession of a small iron bar or similar and they have left the premises shortly after,” she said.
“The male occupant suffered minor injuries including soreness and bruising.”
Armidale police are trying to work out if the attack was targeted.
“We can’t eliminate the fact that the parties may have been linked somehow,” she said.
“A crime scene was established and forensics officers examined the scene.
“A canvass was conducted of the area and statements were obtained from the victims, but investigations are ongoing.”
The first offender is described as 180cm tall, with a thin build, wearing black clothing with a black bandana over his face.
The second offender is described as being about 180cm tall, with a thin build and he was also wearing dark clothing.
“So we request anyone who saw anything unusual, perhaps the activity of persons or vehicles around the time of the alleged offence, to please contact Armidale detectives on 6771 0699,” Detective Inspector Joy said.
