FORMER Tamworth councillor Esther Halliday has called on the council to prepare a public report to mark the 10-year anniversary of the local government amalgamation.
Tamworth Regional Council came about in March 2004, when the old city council, Nundle and Manilla, and parts of the Parry and Barraba shires, were amalgamated to form the new council.
“I’d like to see a detailed report on the benefits to this region of this amalgamation. Some people seem to have gained, but some might not have benefited from the merger,” she said.
The council is considering preparing a document to mark the decade of the local government body. Deputy mayor Russell Webb said although he hadn’t considered it before, he believed it would be a great thing for the council to list its achievements and review the challenges and journey it had endured.
