TAMWORTH took a trip to Germany at the long weekend, with lederhosen the attire of choice.
Oktoberfest took over the Tamworth City Bowling Club at the weekend, with live bands last Friday and Saturday nights, and yesterday dedicated to families.
Club manager Wayne Patch said they’d had barrel rolls, the chicken dance, the Tamworth City Brass Band playing oom-pah-pah music and even a bucks’ party celebration.
He said plenty of people were embracing the spirit of the event.
“We had heaps of people come dressed up, including six girls in Heidi outfits on Saturday,” he said.
“It’s been fantastic.”
Mr Patch said it was the first Oktoberfest for the club, but it certainly wouldn’t be the last.
“We’ll be having this every year, because it’s gone really well for the club, kitchen and Tamworth as well,” he said.
“There hasn’t been any one thing that has been a highlight – it’s the whole atmosphere. Everyone’s really enjoyed the food, the beer, the music, all of it.”
Oktoberfest was just one of many long weekend events enjoyed around the region.
