TAMWORTH Regional Council staff at Manilla will swap their usual uniform for workwear of a different hue this week as part of a unique fundraiser.
Both indoor and outdoor staff will wear pink shirts from tomorrow for the entire month of October for the annual Manilla in the Pink community event,
The council office and library in Manilla St will also be flushed with pink ribbons and pink decorations. Tamworth Regional Council Section 355 co-ordinator Robyn Fletcher said the whole of the town was looking forward to the fundraiser.
“It’s amazing to think it all started when the council’s Manilla office staff decided to have a pink ribbon breakfast nine years ago – it’s just grown since then,” she said.
She encouraged businesses to get involved by decorating their shop, dressing in pink and fundraising for the NSW Cancer Council.
The Manilla Matters Committee and the Manilla Community Development Committee is collecting funds raised in the town on behalf of the NSW Cancer Council. Pink Ribbon Day is on Monday, October 28.
The pink ribbon is the symbol of support for people who have been affected by breast cancer.
