TWO lawn bowls tournaments are about to reap a CNDBA Bowler of the Year bonus.
Next month’s North Tamworth Pairs and Werris Creek Triples are the final two events on the re-instated CNDBA Bowler Of The Year Award.
And with five of the top bowlers in the CNDBA still in contention, it makes for extra interest and good nominations at the two bowls carnivals.
North Tamworth Pairs will be held Sunday, October 20 while the Werris Creek Triples concludes the Bowler of the Year series on Sunday, October 27.
The Bowler Of The Year Award has ensured good nominations and rollups at all 15 previous events and organiser Phil Johnson believes the final two will create much interest.
“Chris Herden and Nathan Wise are still on top with 260 points apiece, Terry Cummings (230) is third, Charlie Schumacher (220) fourth and Les Goodchild (210) fifth,” Johnson said.
“In theory, any one of those five can win it so there is plenty to play for in these last two events.
“Plus it will give those two events a bit higher profile.”
Increasing the profile is what the Bowler of the Year Award has been about, Johnson said.
“I think it’s done that. Entries to all the State events were up this this year and most of the other carnivals have had good turnouts.
“They got a full field of 84 at Kooty last week and I’m sure they’ll get a good field at Werris Creek even though they don’t play for much prizemoney.”
