THE charitable efforts of one high school will shortly see iPads, iPod docks and craft boxes making their way to Tamworth hospital’s children’s ward.
Oxley High School’s Year 12 students began their fundraising efforts for the kids’ ward in term four last year and had raised a total of $1500 before their school carnival event added an extra $500 to the kitty.
About 800 students converged onto the school’s bottom oval for some fun in the sun last week to take part in the fundraiser.
Fairy floss, popcorn, a sausage sizzle, cake stalls and photo booths added to the carnival-like atmosphere, but it was the opportunity to give their teachers and seniors a drenching that many students couldn’t pass up.
“It was a great success,” school captain Madeleine Patterson said.
The Year 12 students officially waved goodbye to 13 years of schooling last week, but not before announcing their tally to a hospital representative at a school assembly.
