IT’S been a long time coming but now Tamworth’s very own air show is about to land.
Originally thought of two years ago and a year after the event started to be organised, the inaugural show has grown beyond all expectations to three days, Tamworth Aero Club treasurer James Hollinworth said.
“It sort of grew: it was supposed to be a little thing,” he said.
“The aero club felt it was about time our city lauded its great aviation history.
“We’ve got a really rich aviation history locally and we feel it’s not really well known.”
The first of the three days, October 18, would focus on showing 80 school students from around the region available aviation career opportunities.
“It’s a unique opportunity to get up and close to aircraft, talk to the industry, understand what it takes to start a career,” Mr Hollinworth said.
