FORMER member for New England Tony Windsor said the highlight of his political life was always the people, and this was reflected in the numbers who flocked to farewell him yesterday.
Tamworth’s Bicentennial Park was teeming with Mr Windsor’s supporters, constituents and mates from his years in state and federal politics at a farewell barbecue.
They all came to say thank you and he was showered with gifts from those who are sad to see him leave the political arena.
Mr Windsor said he was retiring from politics, but not from the region, and would still be living in the same place he always had outside Werris Creek. This was the third and final farewell and thank you barbecue that Mr Windsor had hosted, with the previous two in Armidale and Inverell.
