ONE of the region’s premier early learning centres has taken out two prestigious gongs at a national awards ceremony held in Sydney.
Milestones Early Learning Centre on Bligh St eclipsed more than 1000 entrants nationwide and 22 and 25 finalists respectively to be announced the winner of the Best Community Involvement Program and Best NSW Confident Kids Activity categories of the 2013 Australia Child Care Week awards.
More than 500 service operators and their teams and families gathered in the grand ballroom at The Westin, Sydney, last Saturday for the gala dinner and awards presentation.
The accolades, which highlight the depth of children’s learning and the important role childcare services play in nurturing and extending learning and development, have 16 categories.
About 20 staff members from the Milestones centres at Oxley Vale and Bligh St boarded a bus and headed to the harbour city to take part in the awards ceremony.
This year it was the Bligh St centre’s turn to take out an award, after Oxley Vale won last year for the Best Programs Involving Families category.
And while Oxley Vale failed to win an award this year, both centres would celebrate the spoils, Milestones CBD centre manager Tarsha Watters said.
“A win’s a win for Milestones. We’re like one big family,” she said.
