The new Nationals MP for New England will likely take up residence in the Peel St offices the former independent occupied for years.
It hasn’t been confirmed and will be decided by a government department, but Mr Joyce has said the Windsor offices down the other end of where the Barnaby Joyce campaign office operated from looks likely to be his next business abode, even if on a short-term basis.
And while he might be moving into the place Mr Windsor inhabited, Mr Joyce has also inherited a former Windsor staffer.
He confirmed late last week that the former long-serving chief of staff for Windsor has accepted an offer to become the electorate office manager for the new MP-elect.
Lee Tschirpig, who worked for Mr Windsor since the first day of his election to the state parliament in 1991, will now handle Mr Joyce’s business affairs in Tamworth.
Mr Tschirpig started his political-minding career in the office of former state Nationals MP Noel Park.
Others who have decided to join the Joyce team are Miranda Broekman and Andrew Gregson, most recently the CEO of the NSW Irrigators Council.
Yesterday Mr Joyce was continuing to catch up on domestic issues rather than political matters. He was fixing the pool pump and preparing household things.
He and wife Natalie finalised the purchase of a house and only a couple of weeks ago moved into their new home on a three-hectare rural residential address at Loomberah.
Mr Joyce, the deputy leader of the Nationals to Queenslander Warren Truss, is expected to be offered a ministerial position, either regions, agriculture or local government. Mr Truss has been suggested as a new transport or infrastructure minister in the Abbott government.
