Tamworth council now has Taste

TAMWORTH’S Taste Festival has been adopted by the events arm of Tamworth Regional Council, Destination Tamworth.

The events Taste in the Park and the Long Lunch will become priorities for Destination Tamworth over the coming 12 months.

Kate Baker, Tamworth Regional Council’s business and commercial enterprises co-ordinator said the Taste Festival had gone from strength to strength and council was keen to help the events grown into the future.

“Those successes are largely thanks to the dedication of the Taste Tamworth committee, whose commitment to growing these events is commendable,” she said.

The 2012 Taste in the Park event was attended by more than 5000 people.

Ms Baker said Destination Tamworth adopting both Taste and the Long Lunch was an exciting step.

“We are looking forward to working with the Taste Tamworth committee to transition these events into bigger and bolder spectacles and to grow other activities throughout the region to support the existing events,” she said.

Jye Segboer, chair of the Tamworth Taste committee, said he was delighted to see the events would continue to grow and prosper under the support of Destination Tamworth.

“Our Taste committee is made up of a small group of passionate and dedicated individuals who will continue to support Destination Tamworth with these events,” he said.

“The publics enthusiasm for these events has been fabulous and we want to ensure that the Taste festival can continue to grow and attract visitors to our area, whilst remaining accessible for locals, local businesses and surrounding producers at the same time.”
