A COALITION commitment of $1.2 million for the completion of the Chaffey Dam augmentation will be announced today by Nationals candidate for New England Barnaby Joyce.
Mr Joyce said the project, now worth more than $44.5 million, would take the dam’s capacity from 40,000 to 100,000 megalitres.
He said work on the dam’s completion would begin in the first term of government.
“$1.2 million was the amount requested by Tamworth Regional Council, and as deputy chair of the
Coalition’s dams committee I’m very happy to announce the completion of a major dam in my electorate,” Mr Joyce said. “This secures the water supply for Tamworth, the irrigators and underpins the economy of the Tamworth region being an agricultural, industrial and residential centre.
