A MAN disqualified from driving until 2034 has been charged under Skye’s law following a pursuit at Inverell yesterday.
At 4.50am yesterday, a fully marked police vehicle attempted to pull over a silver-coloured sedan in Eugene St.
It’s alleged the vehicle accelerated away and a pursuit was initiated.
The sedan allegedly travelled thorough a number of residential streets at speeds of up to 90km/h in sign-posted 50km/h areas.
Police lost sight of the sedan before locating it a short time later in the driveway of a house in Elm St.
Officers found the alleged driver, a 33-year-old Brewarrina man, lying in the rear of the vehicle.
The man was arrested and subjected to a roadside breath test – which was positive.
Police took the man to Inverell Police Station, where he underwent a breath analysis and returned an alleged reading of 0.102.
Checks revealed the man is disqualified from driving until 2034.
The man was charged with: behave in offensive manner in/near public place/school; drive motor vehicle during disqualification period; drive with middle-range PCA; drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous; and police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously.
He was refused bail and will appear in Moree Local Court today.
