FOR the first time ever, Tamworth is set to host a conference by the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences (ABARES).
The all-day conference, to be held at Tamworth Community Centre next Wednesday, will look in detail at agricultural commodity forecasts and economic analysis.
The conference will focus on opportunities for agriculture, regional industries and environmental change, drawing on local speakers and ABARES economists to examine the region.
ABARES holds regional outlook conferences in each state and the Northern Territory every year, taking its agricultural commodity forecasts and discussions on key issues affecting rural industries to regional communities.
ABARES acting executive director Kim Ritman said the Tamworth conference had been tailored to the region and would be valuable for anyone wishing to access the latest economic and scientific data and information in the agriculture, fisheries and forestry sectors.
It costs $110 per person (includes lunch).
Register from 8.30am; the conference starts at 9am.
To register call 6272 2303 or 6272 3051.
