A YELLOW haze descended on Tamworth yesterday for the annual Daffodil Day.
The Cancer Council fundraiser was embraced by organisations, community groups, schools and individuals, with bright-yellow daffodils and memorabilia everywhere.
Cancer Council volunteers had stalls set up in a number of locations, and the staff of Coles, a national supporter, in Tamworth’s City Plaza got into the swing with balloons and all things golden.
At Oxley High School students baked up a storm with a host of sweet treats to raise money for the cause, while long-time supporters Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School raised $2000 in just a few hours.
Shaen Fraser, the Cancer Council community programs co-ordinator for the area, said it was a great day, with a lot of merchandise and daffodils changing hands, although an exact amount won’t be known until next week.
“We need to thank all our volunteers and the groups, schools and businesses that got behind us – we always enjoy great community support,” she said.
