AN ORGANISATION helping disadvantaged and at-risk young people in the Tamworth area has had a $5000 injection to help with the operation of its programs.

Youth Insearch Foundation was the recipient of an NRMA Insurance Community Grant, which Youth Insearch community co-ordinator Ron Carr said would go towards the expenses of running the organisation’s camps.
These camps aim to build the self-esteem of participants and teach them how to take control of their lives.
Other young people, known as leaders, also attend the camps to mentor and help their peers work through their problems.
The camps are supplemented by weekly meetings where young people can get together to discuss their problems and support one another.
Mr Carr said the camps were “amazing” and turned the lives of young people around.
Alex Seckold has been a participant in the Youth Insearch program and is now in training to become a leader himself.
He said the organisation’s programs helped him deal with a family breakdown and showed him he was not the only one going through such a situation.
“It’s a home away from home – everyone’s like a family,” Alex said of the camps.
This year 74 groups across NSW received community grants totalling $300,500.
