Rural Press Events operations manager Kate Nugent said the total forecast of 100,000 people through the gates would “absolutely” be achieved by the end of today, the third and last day of the massive annual Gunnedah event.
The 2013 Brownhill Cup, one of the most prestigious awards in Australian agriculture, was awarded to Rob Davidson, his wife Valli and their daughter Kate and son James, who own and operate Merrivale at Tambar Springs.
The Bruce McClelland Memorial Bursary was awarded to the Bowler family of Bithramere.

Brothers Richard and Michael Bowler have been conducting grain trials on their property for 50 years and were deserving winners of the $5000 bursary, Grains Research and Development Corporation northern panel chairman James Clark said.
Peter Cocciardi of Narre Warren, Victoria, won the first regional round of the NSW Farmers NSW Farm Inventor of the Year for his Cocky Flow valve.
As well as the Claas 900 Series broadacre tractors, other big-ticket new releases at AgQuip this year included Kubota’s Krone hay equipment and machinery; Hardi Australia’s new spray rigs called Presidio, Evo, Saritor and Commander II; and Sustain Ag Australia’s Slim Seeder.
Several high-profile agriculture awards were announced yesterday.
