A TRIAL into three Walcha men accused of hiring a hitman has been abandoned after they pleaded guilty in court.
Geoffrey Roy Morley, along with his two sons, Jeffrey Robert Morley, 27, and Andrew Morley, 23, pleaded guilty during an arraignment in Armidale to one charge each of recruiting others to assist in carrying out criminal activity.
After concerns were raised in court yesterday, new comprehensive pre-sentence reports were ordered for each of the three men ahead of the sentencing hearing planned for October.
The Northern Daily Leader is unable to reveal some of the details surrounding the case after suppression orders were granted yesterday afternoon.
Andrew and Jeffrey Morley remain on strict conditional bail, while their father, Geoffrey Morley, did not apply for bail yesterday and it was formally refused.
The men will be sentenced in Parramatta District Court on October 3.
