EVERYBODY loves cupcakes – so why not get baking and help out the RSPCA at the same time?
Monday is the RSPCA’s annual Cupcake Day, with the public invited to go to www.rspcacupcakeday.com.au to register an event, and host your own Cupcake Day function and raise some much-needed funds to help in the fight against animal cruelty.
Goonoo Goonoo Rd Veterinary Clinic owners Andria and Brett Chittick got a head start with their celebrations – and they started Cupcake Day last Monday, running it all week.
“We decided to hold Cupcake Day all week and sold cupcakes, cakes and slices,” Andria said.
“One of our staff baked some doggie muffins, for canine consumption only, as she thought ‘why should the dogs miss out?’
“We celebrated Cupcake Day last year and it was so much fun, we decided to do it all again for the full week leading up to the official day.
“When we registered the event, we said we expected to raise about $200, but if we get more, that would be fabulous. All proceeds will go to the RSPCA.”
Tamworth RSPCA committee member Colleen Bannister said anyone could climb on board the cupcake express any time during August.
“Cupcakes will be available at Bunnings on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, and at our Bunnings barbecue this Saturday we will have Sophie Dog Treats pupcakes, especially baked for four-legged friends,” Colleen said.
“The best part is, all funds raised in Tamworth stay in Tamworth.”
If you can help out the RSPCA in any way, perhaps as a prospective carer, phone the local branch on 0411 896 940 or 0428 260 263.
