NEARLY 90 cars left Tamworth for Bundaberg yesterday to raise funds and awareness for Kidney Health Australia, in the 25th annual Kidney Kar Rally.
The convoy included support vehicles and the 60 participants’ cars, including one belonging to the Warren family of Tamworth.
Maree, Darin, Bailey and Cody decided to take part in the rally following young Cody’s own experience with kidney disease.
Cody had a condition that meant his kidney could not properly empty into his bladder and in 2011 it ruptured, meaning his kidney had to be removed.
But he is now healthy and happy, and his family wanted to do something to give back to the organisation that helped them.
The rally will take them on an eight-day journey up to Bundaberg and back down to Armidale.
Funds raised will go towards Kidney Health Australia’s Kidney Kids programs, which include camps for children living with kidney disease and activity days.
