TWO attempted thefts in Tamworth were foiled – one by an investigative homeowner and the other by a lock.
At a King St home just before 11pm on Thursday, a homeowner heard a door open and went to investigate.
The resident walked into the living room to find an unknown man, who had broken in, standing there.
The man dropped the items he was attempting to steal and ran off.
Between 5pm on Wednesday and 8am yesterday, a Bridge St business’s shipping container, used as a storage facility, was also the scene of an attempted theft.
Police said thieves had tried to cut a lock on the container but failed to gain entry.
A home in Gunnedah’s Conadilly St was broken into on the same night. Thieves netted an amount of cash.
Police said thieves entered through a rear door between 7pm and 2am and ransacked a number of rooms before taking the cash.
