PART of the work to renovate Tamworth’s historic Post Office has been completed.
A spokeswoman for Australia Post said all external work, including painting, was due to be completed “at the end of the week”.
As was expected most of the scaffolding that had enveloped the building since work began two months ago had been pulled down.
The spokeswoman said paint work to give the building a long overdue facelift had been delayed as a result of poor weather conditions.
“The paint needs an ambient temperature of at least 10 degrees Celsius to obtain the right gloss,” she said.
“The full restoration should be complete in another month, with internal works due to be completed by the start of September.”
Restoration of the building, which includes some internal works on the first floor, began in June.
