National Parks and Wildlife Service area manager Mark Fosdick said the reopening on June 28 was an important step in re-establishing the park and would pave the way for increased visitors.

He said the annual Crooked Mountain Concert will now go ahead on November 9.

“Camp Blackman has all of its regular amenities in good working order,” Mr Fosdick said.

“Visitors can take advantage of the powered sites, hot showers and flushing toilets which are not available at the other campgrounds.

“The response from visitors to the limited camping we have had available has been excellent and we know our regulars will be pleased to see Blackman back up and running.”

Mr Fosdick was also delighted to confirm the annual not-for-profit concert – an important part of the Coonabarabran community calendar – would be staged this year.

“We shared the community view that the concert should go ahead and have been working towards this aim to secure some top quality acts,” he said.

“This year’s concert will feature Adam Brand as the headline act, with Travis Collins, People’s Palace and Jess Holland with Streamline rounding out the support acts.

“Tickets will go on sale from early July. 

“It is all part of putting the Bungles and the local community back in business.”

Mr Fosdick said the Burbie Canyon, Mt Exmouth, Whitegum Lookout walking tracks, and Belougery Split Rock Circuit are open for walking, but Breadknife and Grand High Tops walking tracks will remain closed for now due to public safety.
