New England police has issued a warrant for the arrest of 26-year-old Neville William Riley, pictured right.
Detective Sergeant Matt Crotty said police were pulling out all stops to find him.
“He is wanted in relation to five counts of aggravated break, enter and commit serious indictable offence,” Detective Sergeant Crotty said.
“It’s a high priority for our command to track him down, execute the warrant and arrest him.”
Police allege he committed the offences on homes and businesses around the New England area in the past two months.
Detective Sergeant Crotty said police believed Riley could be hiding locally.
“It’s highly likely he’s in the Armidale area, he’s got strong links to the area,” Detective Sergeant Crotty said.
“But we believe he may have other links to other areas in the New England, so we’re urging people in surrounding areas to keep a look out and contact us if they know something.”
And they’ve issued a stern warning to anyone helping to shield him from police.
“We believe that he has associates that are assisting him to avoid apprehension,” Detective Sergeant Crotty told The Northern Daily Leader yesterday.
“Any persons that are harbouring him will also be subject to serious charges.”
Neville William Riley is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander in appearance, about 175cm tall, with a medium build, and about 80kg. He has an olive complexion, brown hair and eyes.
New England police warn members of the public not to approach Riley if they see him, rather they should call triple zero immediately.
