AFTER some heartbreaking losses in the past two weeks the Walcha Roos finally had something to bounce up and down about on Friday night.

The Roos found themselves in another nailbiter against Bendemeer at Scully Park but this time the result went their way.
With scores locked at 18-all and less than 10 minutes to play, a try by bench forward Shannon Duck gave the Roos a 22-18 win.
After leading 16-8 at the break, the Roos invited Bendy back in it with mistakes and penalties galore and the Mountain Men didn’t miss their chance.
They took an 18-16 lead, briefly, before Walcha finally awoke and finished the game with a penalty goal, Duck’s try and some better field position.
“Silly mistakes once again, and giving away penalties,” Walcha coach Peter Berry said.
“All the defence we did was because we made mistakes.
“Once we got some good ball inside their half we went forward well I thought.
“We have to learn to come out of halftime firing rather than leave it till the last minute every game.
“It makes it hard.
“We’re going to sleep there.”
The teams traded tries early in the game before two more penalty goals and a try to outstanding hooker Nathan McGuire gave Walcha its halftime lead.
Bendy lock Bruce Murray was a constant thorn in Walcha’s side and bagged a first -half double and Cameron McDonald and Will Jerrard added one each in the second to give Bendy the lead.
Berry lamented his side’s inability to convert chances into points, although at least it didn’t cost him a win this week.
“We need to take our opportunities,” he said.
“We should have had a bigger lead at halftime.
“I’m going to develop more plays so that we can stay in control and take those opportunities,” he said.
McGuire was involved in everything but had some good ball runners to work with.
The Roos run the ball hard and Bendy tackles hard, which made for a very physical encounter.
“He (McGuire) was just massive,” Berry said.
“Troy Yarnold was good again.
“Jock Laurie and Ben Green were solid and Will Bullock, our new bloke, was good.
“And Snow, Dean Kelly, put in a good effort again.
“But it was a full team effort.”
It was a blow for the Mountain Men, who scored four tries to three.
Bendy coach Peter Cook was just as disappointed with his side’s errors as the Walcha coach but he had nothing to show for the game.
“It was the same as last week. we’ve got to cut out our mistakes,” he said.
“We’ll go back and regroup and go again.
“They beat us fair and square.
“It’s fundamental mistakes and we have to cut them out,” he said.
The upside for Bendy is that it is still in fifth place and Cook is confident it can hold onto a semi-final spot.
