Joanne Ilett from Moore Creek writes about her disappointing experience at the recent Carrie Underwood concert in Tamworth.
THE Carrie Underwood concert was a great night of entertainment for most, but for some of us it turned out to be most, most disappointing.
I am talking about my experience, but there were others in my aisle and area with the same problems.
I purchased my ticket on time, as did the other people, two months before Carrie came to Tamworth.
We saw the layout and purchased tickets in the third row back from the stage.
When we arrived we were in section C, way back behind the half-way mark of TRECC.
I am 60 years old and could hardly see the stage. We told the girls helping people to their seats and at the front desk.
No one cared and we were told “tough”.
Then others arrived with the same problem.
One lady, unable to see the stage at all, waited until Carrie Underwood started to sing and moved to the front side near the stage.
Another couple tried and were told by security to sit down.
While all this was in progress, the entire time there was a young girl in front of us who stood up, waving her hands, and none of us could see Damien Leith at all.
A young couple asked her to sit down and she gave them a mouthful. Another couple asked a security fellow to ask her to sit down and he ignored them.
This went on all night, with eight to nine girls all standing up and dancing, blocking our view of the stage.
This was a seated venue and there has to be something in place for that.
I called the tourist centre and was told that the lady who sold and organised the tickets for the venue and others would get back to me.
I am still waiting. I and others were looking forward to seeing these artists for some time.
Now it’s a sad case of never going back.
I have since talked to other people about their experiences and it’s not good.
We want some kind of reassurance that, in the future, you are better organised.
As far as our tickets for this concert go, we deserve an apology and compensation.
I am so disappointed – we missed a great performance by both artists, due to the lack of caring by the young and the TRECC staff who should know better.
If I had been treated better I wouldn’t have written this letter.
I would like to purchase more tickets in the future, but unless we are reassured of having the seat we paid for, it’s not going to happen.
And you young girls out there, have some consideration for the elderly – they can’t get up and dance. You will be our age one day.
We still enjoy rock and country music, just like you, and have a right to watch the artist on stage and enjoy ourselves.
I encourage others to have their say also.
