POLICE are yet to release the name of a 39-year-old Belmore Engineering employee who died in a tragic workplace accident in Tamworth on Tuesday.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation but officers were yesterday able to reveal the incident involved a side loader.
Emergency services rushed to the Showground Rd complex about 3.50pm but the employee died at the scene.
The business was shut down to the public following the incident, and forensic officers and detectives spent the evening examining the scene.
Tamworth police duty officer Inspector Kylie Endemi said forensic investigators would be working with WorkCover NSW inspectors to determine how the accident happened.
“It was a terribly sad and tragic event that occurred,” Inspector Endemi said.
“It’s obviously affected his family, his workmates, as well as all emergency services who attended
to assist.”
