A WORKER has died after a tragic workplace accident, apparently involving a forklift, at an engineering works in Tamworth’s Taminda industrial estate yesterday afternoon.
Police released only brief details last night, but said the employee had died at the scene after police and paramedics had rushed to Belmore Engineering on Showground Rd about 3.50pm after emergency calls.
The business’s extensive complex was immediately shut to the public following the accident. Shocked employees congregated outside the main building as police examined the accident scene.
The investigation into the cause of the accident included gathering statements from the employees.
A WorkCover NSW spokeswoman said a local WorkCover representative was sent to the business but the matter was in the hands of police.
