Tamworth thieves roll ute out of driveway and take sedan

TAMWORTH resident Aaron Harley was woken up by his neighbour at 4.30am yesterday morning to be told his black Toyota Hilux work ute had been rolled out of his driveway.

Mr Harley went out to investigate and checked the car for any damage, before his attention turned to his carport and he realised his white 1999 Toyota Camry was missing.

“I was woken up by my neighbour saying ‘Is that your ute across the road, mate?’ and I said ‘No it’s in the driveway’, but it wasn’t,” Mr Harley said. “They (the thieves) rolled it down the driveway and wedged it into the gutter across the road.

“Nothing was taken but they basically went back into the driveway and took the Camry because they obviously couldn’t start the ute. I must admit I’m feeling uneasy and a bit ticked off about it.”

Mr Harley’s car was found in East Tamworth near the scene of another car theft in Bourke Street, where a

silver Ford Falcon was stolen before it was driven through the gates of the Tamworth Sports Dome.

A business in Taminda was also broken into some time yesterday morning, but police were still investigating what was taken.
