FARRER Memorial Agricultural High School tackles St Gregory’s Campbelltown with a full-strength fit and healthy side in its crucial second-round GIO Schoolboys Cup match at John Simpson Oval, Farrer this morning from 11.30.
The Tamworth school is coming off a first-round 30-6 loss to Hills Sports High in Sydney and needs a win in the round robin section, coach Damien Kenniff said.
It’s also something of a nostalgic match for Kenniff.
“I went to school at St Greg’s,” Kenniff told The Leader.
“It’s good to play a school with such a high profile in schoolboy rugby league though.
“That was one of the reasons we asked for promotion to this elite level.
“The game against Hills Sports High was tough but it was everything we wanted it to be.
“The boys are playing at the highest level – it’s a challenge for them.
“So it would be good to kick off with a win against St Greg’s.
“ They still filter a lot of players through to the NRL and we played them earlier in the season in a trial at Farrer.
“They beat us by a few points.”
Farrer is boosted by the return of talented Matt Brady.
“He’s coming back from a cheekbone injury,” Kenniff said.
“Everyone else is fit.”
Farrer’s three Australian AIS tourists – Tremayne Sandbrook, Brad Cappello and Zack Leonard – are all lining up in a side spearheaded by hooker and captain Logan Harris and halves John Brady and Jacob Booby.
