New England and Nort West top talkers show their expertise

THE top Toastmasters from across the New England and North West have proved their orating skills at a regional contest.

The Gunnedah Toastmasters Club hosted the Area 18 contest last Saturday.

Toastmasters from Narrabri, Gunnedah and Tamworth competed in the area’s international speech and evaluation heats. 

Tamworth Toastmasters Rachel Nicholson and Eric Elsley won their way through to the evaluation contest with Narrabri’s Richard Busby.

They were also the first, second and third winners respectively of the local area level of the World Championship of Public Speaking.

Tamworth Toastmasters Club president Elizabeth Hingston distinguished herself by winning the Area 18 International Speech Contest.

Richard Busby also placed second in that contest, with third place going to Gunnedah’s Tom Bartlett.

The first- and second-placed contestants will now progress to the third round in the division level 

contests to be held at Tamworth’s McCarthy Catholic College today.
