Anastasis in court over firearms

A MAN faced Coonabarabran Local Court yesterday charged with firearms offences following a police raid on a property in Binnaway.

Daniel Anastasis had his bail refused before the court and his case will be heard at Tamworth Local Court on March 28.

Shortly before 11pm on Wednesday, investigators executed a search warrant at a house in Coolah Rd, Binnaway.

There police seized four firearms, ranging from .22 to 7.62 calibre, as well as 443g of cannabis and 31g of amphetamine.

Two unsecured firearms were found in a Holden Commodore belonging to the 27-year-old.

Anastasis was arrested and charged with six counts of not keeping firearms safe, six counts of owning an unregistered firearm, possessing ammunition without a licence and possession of firearms in aggravated circumstances.

Police said yesterday another man was expected to receive a court attendance notice in relation to the drugs found at the property.
