Woman dragged in Tamworth bag snatch

A WOMAN was dragged from her car during a bag snatch in West Tamworth on Monday.

Police said the 35-year-old woman had just returned from the bank and was sitting in her car in the bank’s car park on the corner of Bridge and Crown streets at 3.30pm when she was approached by a man.

Police said the man leant in through the open car window and grabbed the woman’s handbag, but didn’t count on her hanging on.

She was dragged from her car and several metres along the ground before she let go of the bag.

The woman was treated at the scene by paramedics for grazing to her knees.

Police have released a decription of the offender, who is described as being between 18-25 years of age, slim build and of Aboriginal appearance.

He was wearing a red T-shirt and had short, curly hair.

Police are seeking witnesses to the incident and ask anyone who may have information to contact Tamworth Police Station or Crime Stoppers.
